We had been to Christchurch previously and this time wanted to go up on the Cable Car, as you know Nigel likes this type of thing. Fabulous views from the top and thankfully a clear day.
Dunedin was our next stop and this time we visited the informative Settlers Museum and then a walk around the centre that reminds you so much of Edinburgh.
Yesterday we sailed three of the Fjords in NZ. Dusky Sound which we thought we wouldn’t see as the weather was so bad, but as we entered it cleared and we even saw a large pod of resident bottle nosed dolphins. Next was Doubtful Sound but the weather had closed in again and it was very foggy and overcast. Finally Milford Sound, which Nigel missed on our previous visit as he wasn’t very well.
Didn’t bode well as the weather again wasn’t brilliant but as we got further in the rain stopped and the clouds lifted and we had brilliant views of the Sound with its many waterfalls, one of which had a rainbow in the spray. Didn’t see any penguins though!
Now on our way to Sydney, so it’s farewell to New Zealand after 12 fabulous weeks. We have enjoyed every minute, despite the weather and would highly recommend a visit.
