Lovely sunny two days in Yokohama following our first day of rain.
Took a trip up Landmark Tower, 69 floors at 750m/min, unfortunately a bit overcast and although fab view of Yokohama, Mount Fuji was a little shrouded in cloud and rain.
Then took the “Red Shoes” tourist bus, very quaint and only £1.20 each! Ended up at the Red Brick Warehouses with some fabulous bijou shops and loads of eating places. Resisted buying some glass but maybe not before the end of the cruise!
Unfortunately the heavens opened in the evening and ended up in a shopping mall to avoid the rain, not far from the amusement park.
Yesterday we took a local bus to Sankeien Japanese Garden, fabulous with lots of culturally significant buildings, which have been moved from various places but particularly from Kyoto. Lovely to see lots of local Japanese ladies in traditional kimonos.
Unfortunately the cherry blossom season was early and we have missed the main display here, but lots of other opportunities, but it’s not as though we don’t see enough at home!
Today we took a walk around the Nippon Maru sail ship moored in Dock No 1, fabulous ship which is used for sail training.
Onboard the Westerdam now ready for our cruise around Japan and then heading off to Seattle via Alaska in a couple of weeks.
