Cadiz & Malaga

9 May 2024

We were only in Cadiz last month, due to change from the Azores, which we couldn’t get to because of bad weather. We decided on a bit of a church day and opted for the Bono Tourism ticket to see Goya, El Greco and Murillo paintings in the most fabulous settings.

We then took a walk to the Roman Mercado, Cathedral, Roman Theatre and the Place de San Juan de Dios. Fabulous weather and some beautiful sights.

Malaga
We have never been to Malaga before, lots of other places in Spain. We had booked a free walking tour from the Place de la Constitution. Arrived there early and had coffee and pastries at La Canasta, couldn’t believe the price at €6.40!

Maria was our guide and took us around the historical centre, explaining the history and local life. Did you know there are 8 different types of coffee with milk in Malaga! Picasso was born in Malaga, there is a museum, huge queues, but his best works are scattered around the world. Famous for Muscatel sweet wine, most popular is Pimpi.

The Cathedral is still unfinished, but they have started the completion works, so you never know. Took a look at the Moorish Fortress and the Malaga Museum before ending our tour. A couple of beers / wine later headed back to the ship. Definitely worth a longer visit in the future.
