One of our favourite trips whilst we are in Bangkok is to take the Orange Line Chao Praya Express Boat from Sathon Taksin Bridge to Nonthaburi, takes just over an hour and costs 38p each. The boat zigzags along the river stopping at various piers including those for Iconsiam, Wat Arun, Wat Po, the Grand Palace and many more.
They pull into the piers, to allow passengers to get on and off, all directed by various whistle blasts. The river was running quite fast due to the rains, so on some piers, a couple of attempts made.
At Nonthaburi we normally go to a local cake and biscuit shop, but unfortunately they were closed for the day to attend the Vegetarian Festival, so settled for a coffee instead before heading back.
We were lucky in that we missed the rain, as it had thrown it down at the flat whilst we were out.
