Arrived into Haneda airport, at 7am, breezed through Immigration and Passport Control, then waited ages for our luggage!
Headed for the subway for our train to Asakusa area, having bought ourselves a Suica Card, you load with money for train travel and even the odd snack or two. Boarded the Keikyu Express train, which was not very full initially, but on the next few stops it was crammed. Had worked out in advance which of the numerous exits to use at Asakusa, as this is an old station not many escalators or lifts and we had our suitcases with us. Arrived at our hotel, left our luggage, as couldn’t check in until 2pm and headed to Senso-Ji Temple nearby, having first got ourselves coffee and toast nearby.
Extremely busy loads of tourists, many small shops on the way, you could shake sticks to tell your fortune for 50p! Didn’t bother, but was popular.
There was a pier nearby where you could get local ferry trips to different areas, but unfortunately they were all full or cancelled. Plan B took the Hop On Hop Off bus nearby on the red route, we went round once, past many city buildings and museums and the Skytree Tower. We wanted to take another route but the buses were not as frequent as advertised and we would have had to wait til late afternoon. Headed back to our hotel for rest and recuperation as we could now checkin.
In the evening, met our friends Ravina and Dan, who we met in April last year on our Tokyo to Seattle cruise. Headed to one of the many restaurants nearby, but it was taking last orders at 8.30pm, so 5 mins to make our decisions on food! Delicious chicken, noodles and char sui with of course, a couple of local beers.
