Cadiz

2 Mar 2025

It was very foggy when we arrived in Cadiz, you could hardly see more than a few yards in front. We took a ship’s tour for a change and although we were due to start in Jerez (famous for sherry), we started with a drive around Cadiz, where we didn’t see much, before a short walking tour ending with a drink.

Next off to Jerez de la Frontera, the home of sherry, flamenco and horses, where the sun was shining! Again a quick drive around the highlights of the town, before a walking tour in the centre, including the Alcazar de Jerez, a Moorish fortress from the 11th century, horse on a roof and many old Spanish buildings. Lots of oranges on the trees, but these are very bitter and not that good for eating.
