To celebrate Nigel’s birthday, we had a day at the races yesterday, with our friends Kathy, Tony and Di. It was fabulous weather, the sun was shining all day long.
There were 6 races and I picked the winner in 4 of them, can’t believe my luck and Nigel got a few seconds. As our bets were each way we won our money back and made a profit of £70 on the say, well pleased.
The course was really well laid out, our Grandstand and Paddock tickets gave us good views of the Parade Ground, finish line and course – The Rowley Mile is completely straight and over the flat (no jumps/fences) and not too far to walk from the free car park. Newmarket Races has two courses, this one (in Suffolk) and the July course (in Cambridgeshire), which is over jumps, they join up the two courses for one race each season. The staff were very helpful, especially Bob who showed us around, also the lovely girl in Williams Hill Betting shop, who helped me out with filling in our betting slips, had no idea!
Fabulous day out celebrating and to win as well, was the icing on the cake!
