Bangkok last few days

20 Mar 2026

We were fortunate in that we were only a day late, via Dubai with Emirates, arriving back into the UK, although into Gatwick and not Stansted. Although we did have an alert at Dubai, where we had to seek safety, but all over in about 10 mins. We were very lucky though, as lots of people are still not able to return from a variety of destinations.

We did look at options of alternative routes home, but with prices of £1,200/1,500 each for a one way flight, we decided to keep with Emirates, who helped us change our flights to Gatwick, as there were more flights going there than Stansted. Luckily Di’s daughter picked us up and dropped us off at our car at Stansted, although we didn’t exactly remember where we left it! Best of all Stansted didn’t charge us for the overstay!

In our last few days on top of the sights already posted we went to Icon Siam and the floating market there, selling some food items, I would rather not have seen, alligator, insects, etc. In there was a huge Gentle Monster store, with robotics but actually sold glasses!

Attended the St Patrick’s Ball and Shindig, great times had by all, actually won 5 raffle prizes, mainly vouchers but sure my Dad can use them.

Went to Asiatique for a meal and walk around the night market, they have a Jurassic World experience, mainly for kids and a tower structure, biggest in Asia, where you go up in a seat being swung around, lots of screaming!

Terminal 21 Mall features different countries on each level, so a tour of Italy, France, England & Japan whilst shopping.

Had a great holiday, weather was brilliant at 34 degrees most days with only one rain shower. Saw lots, pleased with the tours we booked, used different forms of public transport and Dad’s car from time to time. More importantly Nigel got to play a couple of rounds of golf.
